Course Descriptions
Small Engine Repair (30 hrs.)
The Small Engine Repair course is designed to teach students how to repair and maintain a variety of small engines commonly found in outdoor power equipment. The course covers topics including two-stroke and four-stroke engine theory, carburetor systems, ignition systems, lubrication systems, fuel delivery systems , and electrical systems. Students will also learn how to identify, select, and use appropriate replacement parts and fluids. Upon completion of the course, students will have the knowledge and skills necessary to diagnose and repair small engines, as well as perform routine maintenance tasks. This course provides a foundation for individuals interested in pursuing a career in small engine repair or those looking to maintain their own equipment.
Learn to Weld (72 hrs.)
Whether you are a beginner or have some welding experience, you can benefit from our hands-on Learn to Weld course. Stick, gas, MIG, or TIG welding are available.
Required: welding gloves, safety glasses, and appropriate footwear
Forklift Certification (4 hrs.)
The Sussex Tech Adult Education Forklift Certification Training course prepares s tudents to earn an industry recognizedForklift Licensce compliant with OSHA standards. The license enables students to drive class IV LPS forklift vehicles. The four-hour program is offered in the evening, allowing participants to work and train at the same time. The program includes classroom instruction and on-site forklift driving. Each participant will be required to demonstrate the gained knowledge and skills required to safely operate a forklift before earning the certificate and license.
Intro to Marine Service Technology (48 hrs)
The Sussex Tech Adult Education CDL-B Certification Training prepares students to earn a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class B License, enabling them to drive many types of commercial vehicles. The program is offered on a part-time evening basis, allowing participants to work and train at the same time. The program includes classroom instruction, focused on preparing participants for the written exam, yard training, consisting of truck inspection and on-site driving in a controlled environment, and supervised over-the-road driving.
