What is an IEP?

What is an IEP?

An Individualized Education Program (IEP) is a customized educational plan developed for each student who qualifies for special education services. The IEP is created through a collaborative team effort that includes teachers, school staff, and parents, and it is reviewed at least once a year to make sure it meets the student’s current needs.

Before a student is eligible for an IEP, a multidisciplinary team must determine that the student has a disability that requires specialized instruction or related services to succeed in the general education setting. This process aligns with federal law to ensure each child receives the support they need.

Our school district values a strong partnership with families in developing IEPs that best support each student's learning journey. If you have any questions or need assistance with the IEP process, please reach out to your child’s school or contact our Special Services Office at (302) 857-4239. We are here to support you every step of the way.
